What it is

The Goal Zero Yeti 700 (model 37100) is the compact entry in Goal Zero’s 6th-generation Yeti line: a 677 Wh LiFePO4 battery paired with a 600 W pure-sine inverter (1000 W surge), a four-port USB-C array led by a 100 W PD output, app + WiFi + Bluetooth control, and an IPX4-rated housing that tolerates splash exposure.

The shift to LFP chemistry across the 6G line takes the cycle rating to 4000+ cycles to 80 % capacity at standard conditions — a working life measured in years rather than seasons.

Where it fits

  • Field / job-site use. IPX4 splash resistance is genuinely useful outdoors — a sudden rain on a job site or a marine deck splash shouldn’t kill the unit the way it would for a non-rated power station.
  • Mobile work that lives on USB-C. Four USB-C ports including a 100 W PD output covers a 16-inch laptop plus three additional USB-C devices simultaneously. Total combined USB-C output is 166 W, enough for a laptop + two phones + a tablet without throttling.
  • Cottage / RV use under 600 W loads. The 600 W continuous AC ceiling handles lighting, fridge cycling, phone/laptop charging, and most low-watt cottage appliances. Higher-draw devices (microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer) exceed the inverter and will not run.
  • App-managed deployment. WiFi + Bluetooth + Goal Zero Power App exposes per-port wattage, battery state, charge profiles, and remote on/off — meaningful if the unit is left at a cottage or installed in a vehicle and you want visibility without going to it.

Where it doesn’t

  • High-draw AC loads. 600 W continuous is well below the 1500–1800 W ceiling of comparable mid-size LFP units. A typical coffee maker draws 800–1200 W; this unit will not run one. Microwave, hair dryer, toaster oven, induction cooktop — none of these fit the inverter budget. For high-draw AC needs, this is the wrong unit.
  • Continuous off-grid living. 200 W solar input gives a full recharge in roughly 4-6 hours under good sun, suitable for off-grid weekends. Not enough for indefinite continuous off-grid use.
  • Cold-weather charging. Charge temperature range is 0 °C and above. Discharge works down to -20 °C (widest in this product class), but charging below freezing is not supported.
  • Heavy-duty corded power tools at full draw. 600 W ceiling excludes most table saws, miter saws, larger compressors. A cordless drill battery charger is fine; a tile saw is not.
  • No NRTL safety mark on Goal Zero’s published material. Goal Zero’s product page states “UL 2743 compliance” — that is the applicable UL safety standard for portable power packs, not a UL Listed mark, and no Canadian-recognized NRTL mark (CSA, cULus, cETL) is stated. Goal Zero sells the unit through their Canadian storefront, but absence of an explicitly stated Canadian safety mark can matter for some buyers — particularly anyone whose insurance or rental terms ask about certified electrical equipment. Confirm with Goal Zero directly before purchase if certification is important to your use case.

Practical considerations

  • The 600 W AC ceiling is the gating spec. Before buying, list the high-draw devices you plan to run from this unit; if any of them exceeds 600 W continuous (most kitchen appliances do), the 600-class Yeti is the wrong size and the 1500-class Yeti 1500X or larger is the correct choice instead.
  • USB-C-first design. This is one of the few mid-size power stations with four USB-C ports. For someone whose loads are primarily USB-C (modern laptops, phones, tablets, cameras, lights), it eliminates the need to chain wall adapters off the AC ports.
  • App without a hub. Goal Zero Power App talks to the Yeti directly over Bluetooth (in-range) or WiFi (anywhere), no separate hub or subscription required.
  • IPX4 in practice. Protects against splashes from any direction; does not survive immersion. Safe under a tarp in rain, not safe submerged.
  • 6th-generation marker. Goal Zero refreshed the Yeti line; this is the current generation. Older Yeti 700 references (5G or earlier) describe a different product.
